Can I use Plotpane on iPhone photos, HEIC, or RAW?

Yes. Plotpane natively accepts HEIC from iPhone, standard JPEG and PNG from any phone or camera, and RAW files from most DSLR and mirrorless cameras (CR2, CR3, NEF, ARW, RAF, DNG, ORF). You don't need to pre-convert anything — just drag the file into the uploader and we handle the decode on our end.

For the best output, shoot at your phone's native resolution and avoid HDR mode if possible — HDR merges can confuse the straightening model. If you're using a DSLR, RAW will give you a slightly cleaner result than JPEG because we have more dynamic range to work with in the shadows.

Tips for phone photos

  • Hold the phone level — use the built-in grid overlay
  • Turn off portrait mode and HDR
  • Shoot in landscape for interior rooms
  • Tap to focus on the far wall, not a nearby object
