A failed render almost always falls into one of three buckets: the input file was incompatible, the image was too large or too small for the model, or our pipeline hit a transient error. In every case, we do not deduct a render credit from your balance for a failed job — you'll see the credit returned within a few seconds.
The most common cause is an unsupported or corrupted file. Plotpane accepts JPEG, PNG, HEIC, and most DSLR RAW files, but very old camera formats or partial downloads will reject. The second most common cause is resolution: images smaller than 512px on the short edge, or larger than 8192px, get rejected to protect output quality.
Try this first
- Re-export the photo as JPEG at 2000–4000px on the long edge
- Make sure the file isn't inside a ZIP or locked folder
- Retry the render — transient failures usually clear within a minute
- If it still fails, click Report on the failed job and we'll investigate
