Fotello is a real-estate media platform: booking, editing, delivery and payments in one place, priced per listing rather than per photo. Its cheapest paid tier is $16 a listing billed monthly against 75 listings, which comes to $1,200 a month, and its editing runs on AI checked by in-house editors who will revise a frame as many times as it takes. That is a serious product, and for a working photography business it is often the right one. Plotpane is a narrower thing: seven editing tools, one credit per image whichever tool you pick, $49 to $249 a month. This page sets out what we could verify about Fotello from its own pages, and where each of the two is the better buy.
Fotello describes itself as the AI-powered real-estate media platform built to grow your business, and the description is accurate: alongside editing it runs booking forms, scheduling, a property website, a co-branded agent portal, branded delivery and Stripe payments. It is priced per listing, not per photo. The free tier edits up to 30 photos a listing across unlimited listings, with Fotello branding on the output. Essential is $16 a listing, billed monthly against 75 listings — $1,200 a month — covering up to 50 photos a listing with unlimited human revision by editors. Ultimate is $18 a listing, $1,350 a month, for up to 75 photos a listing plus two twilight creations and two staging creations, a white-labelled order form and agent portal, and 24/7 support. Partner and Enterprise are custom-priced; Partner is where API access, multi-angle staging and a 30-second AI video sit. There is also a pay-as-you-go sheet: $0.50 a photo for editing, $1 a twilight creation, $1 a staging creation, $2 for multi-angle staging, $0.15 for a Topaz Gigapixel upscale, $28 for three videos of up to 60 seconds. Where Fotello is the better choice
If you shoot brackets, Fotello wins outright and it is not close. Its plan comparison lists support for all photo file types including all RAW formats and JPEGs, and for flambient and ambient shots, single exposure or flash, and single or multi bracket. Plotpane takes JPEG, PNG, WebP and HEIC/HEIF up to 25MB, and does not take raw or TIFF at all. We have no bracket merging and no window pull, so a photographer delivering blended exposures cannot use Plotpane for that stage of the work.
Fotello also has people in the loop. Its pricing page promises that the in-house team will revise an edit within six hours, as many times as it takes, and its photos page says every frame is checked by a real editor before it ships. Plotpane has no retouchers and no revision rounds. If a render comes back wrong you re-run it for another credit, or claim a refund in the app within seven days.
On delivered size Fotello goes further than we do. Its download options are listed as MLS web at 2560px and 72 DPI, print at 4096px and 300 DPI, and the original at your input resolution. Plotpane returns JPEG at quality 92, about 2400px across a 4:3 frame, or about 4700px if you spend a second credit. That is a ceiling we impose, not a passthrough of whatever you uploaded.
Then there is everything that is not editing: order forms, scheduling, an agent portal, a property website, custom domains, Stripe payments, auto-upsell, unlimited team members, unlimited storage on paid tiers, API access on Partner, white-labelling from Ultimate, AI video, floor-plan and virtual-tour handling, and credits that roll over for the length of the term. Plotpane has none of it. No API, no team seats, no white-label, no roll-over, no video, no floor plans, no drone or 3D work. If you run a photography business rather than a listing, that list is the product, and we do not compete with it.
The volume economics favour Fotello too. Fill an Essential plan — 75 listings at 50 photos — and $1,200 works out near $0.32 an image. Plotpane's best rate is $0.62 on the Agency plan, and Fotello's pay-as-you-go editing at $0.50 a photo undercuts us as well. If you are shooting most days, Fotello is cheaper per frame.

Where Plotpane is the better choice
The catch in those economics is the entry ticket. Fotello's cheapest paid tier bills against 75 listings a month, which is $1,200 whether or not you shoot 75 listings. Below that volume you are on the free tier with Fotello branding on the output, or buying à la carte. Plotpane starts at $49 a month for 100 images, $99 for 220 and $249 for 600, or $39, $79 and $199 a month billed annually. Every tool costs the same single credit, so a day-to-dusk, a sky swap, a declutter and an enhancement all price identically at $0.49, $0.45 or $0.41 an image depending on the plan. For an agent listing three or four homes a month, that is the difference between a $49 bill and a $1,200 one.
The second difference is who the tool is for. Fotello's own copy addresses photographers: trusted by 10,000+ real estate photographers, grow your real estate photography business. Its platform assumes you have clients to book and invoice. An agent shooting their own listings on a phone is not that buyer — there is no order form to send and no agent portal to brand — and Plotpane takes HEIC straight off the handset.
Third, disclosure. Plotpane writes XMP AI-disclosure metadata into every export, offers an optional visible staging label, and makes a bad render refundable in the app for seven days. Fotello's published feature list, including its full plan comparison table, does not mention disclosure metadata anywhere we could find. If your MLS is strict about marking altered images, that is worth checking with them directly before you commit.
And Plotpane is deliberately small. Upload, pick one of seven tools, name what you want gone if you are decluttering, get a JPEG back in about two minutes, and download the finished listing as a ZIP on any plan. Batches run to 10, 50 or 150 images by plan. There is nothing to adopt and nothing to migrate: three renders are free on signup with no card, watermarked, and any plan removes the mark.

How to choose
If you shoot raw brackets for clients and bill them for the work, buy Fotello. The raw pipeline, the human revision loop and the booking-to-payment platform are things Plotpane does not have and is not trying to build, and at real volume Fotello is also cheaper per frame. If you are an agent or a small team who needs listing photos fixed and does not want to adopt a platform to do it, Plotpane is the cheaper and simpler buy by a wide margin. If you are somewhere in between — shooting JPEG on a mirrorless for your own listings, ten or twenty images a week — try both on the same eight photographs before deciding. Can I send raw files to Plotpane the way I can to Fotello?+
No. Fotello accepts all RAW formats alongside JPEG, and merges single or multi bracket exposures. Plotpane accepts JPEG, PNG, WebP and HEIC/HEIF up to 25MB, and does not accept raw or TIFF. Export to JPEG first, or if your workflow is built on bracketed raw files, Fotello is the better fit.
Which is cheaper, Fotello or Plotpane?+
It depends entirely on volume. At 75 listings a month with 50 photos each — 3,750 images — Fotello's Essential plan works out near $0.32 an image against Plotpane's best rate of $0.41, and that volume is more than six times what an Agency plan covers, so Fotello is the only one of the two that can do the work at all. At three or four listings a month, Fotello's cheapest paid tier still bills $1,200 while Plotpane's Starter is $49, so Plotpane is cheaper by a wide margin. The crossover is a question of how many listings you actually shoot.
What resolution do I get from each?+
Fotello lists three download sizes on paid plans: MLS web at 2560px and 72 DPI, print at 4096px and 300 DPI, and the original at whatever resolution you uploaded. Plotpane returns JPEG at quality 92, about 2400px across a 4:3 frame, or about 4700px if you spend a second credit on the same image. Plotpane's output is a ceiling rather than a passthrough, so if you need the file back at the size your camera shot it, Fotello does that and we do not.
Does Plotpane have an API or team seats like Fotello's Partner plan?+
No. Plotpane has no API, no team seats, no white-labelling, no credit roll-over and no priority queue. Fotello's Partner tier includes API access, a dedicated account manager and multi-angle staging, and Ultimate adds white-labelled order forms and agent portals. If you need to wire editing into your own pipeline or resell it under your own brand, Plotpane cannot do that today.

Plotpane is a structure-preserving pipeline: your room geometry, windows, and floor plan stay exact. We stage, re-light, swap skies, declutter, and enhance your actual photo. No hallucinated architecture, no invented rooms.
BoxBrownie and Styldod are human-edit services: you upload, a retoucher works overnight, you get a result in 24–48 hours at $2–$32 per image per treatment. They also sell things we do not have at all — floor plans, renderings, item removal by a person who can ask you what you meant. Plotpane is one machine pass: you pick one of seven tools, and the image comes back in about two minutes for one credit, whichever tool you picked, on a flat monthly subscription. Stacking two treatments on one photo means running it twice.
Yes, when disclosed. NAR guidelines, California AB 723, and REBNY Rule 3.3 all allow virtually staged photos provided the listing discloses them. Every Plotpane export embeds invisible XMP disclosure metadata so the staging record travels with the file. You still handle the listing-remarks disclosure in your MLS portal — that's the part only you can do.
Every render is sent with a preserve list as well as an instruction. It names one operation and forbids the rest: do not touch windows, doors, walls, ceilings, floors, cabinetry or fixtures unless the instruction names them; do not remove or conceal a defect, stain or crack; do not change what is visible through glass, and never invent a view. Furniture is added to empty rooms; named objects are removed from furnished ones; sky and light are re-graded. If you do see something invented, that is a bug — report the render in the app and the credit comes back.
